Conrad Mcrae Youth League Tournament

Between 2014 and 2019, Ari Marcopoulos documented the Conrad McRae Youth League tournament at Dean Street Playground in Brooklyn, New York.
Players ages six and up are eligible to participate in this tournament, which features some of the best high school basketball players in the greater New York City area. His individual and group portraits of the players, coaching staff, and the crowd are interspersed with action-packed game shots, while the tournament jersey with its small “Jumpman” logo (inspired by Michael Jordan) becomes the series’ overriding theme. In the shots, both posed and unposed, we see players ready to take the court or sweating in the summer heat.
