Where mountains roar: A personal report from the Sinai and Negev Deserts
Lesley Hazleton is probably in my top five favorite authors of the 20th and 21st century. She is a genius at what she does. This book is a memoir recording her life for a year in the Negev and Sinai deserts during her thirteen years in Israel. She beautifully paints the desert as harsh yet fair, life taking and life giving, and empty yet full. A must read for those interested in Hazleton's books, Middle East history and politics, or memoirs of desert life.
