Othello

Othello, by William Shakespeare, is regarded as one of the most famous works of tragedy in English literature. It brings you the story of Othello, the Moor of Venice, and Desdemona, his lover.

Summary of the Book

Othello intricately portrays the subtle shades of jealousy and deception among many other human emotions. Desdemona and Othello are secretly married to each other, leading to Roderigo’s rage. Iago, Othello’s ensign, despises Othello for choosing Michael Cassio and not him. He is determined to get his revenge on the Moor of Venice with the much-needed aid from Roderigo. He cajoles Roderigo to make Desdemona’s father, Brabantio, aware of her secret marriage and convinces Othello that Brabantio is now after him. Iago also tells Othello that Cassio and Desdemona have a secret romantic affair. Othello, who is irrevocably in love with Desdemona, is deeply disturbed by a jealousy which gets the better of him. Will he cause any harm to the relationship while fighting for his love?
